Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE USPCS Announces Annual Meeting At NOJEX Society to meet in New Jersey on May 23-25th along with USSS and C&LS Annual Meeting April 14, 2008...The U.S. Philatelic Classics Society (USPCS) announces that it will hold its 2008 annual meeting in conjunction with 45th annual Exhibit of the North New Jersey Federated Stamp Clubs, Inc. (NOJEX), from May 23rd to 25th. The show will be held at the Meadowlands Crowne Plaza Hotel in Secaucus, New Jersey. "This annual meeting will be a wonderful opportunity for our society's members from across the United States to congregate at a single venue to share their enthusiasm for U.S. classic stamps and postal history. Additionally the Classics Society is honored to hold our annual at the same show as this year's United States Stamp Society's annual meeting." said Wade Saadi, President of the Society. "The combination of the two society's exhibits, programs and people will be a rare opportunity, with so much experience and passion for United States Philately in one place," Saadi continued. In addition to the conducting of Society business, the annual meeting features philatelic seminars, exhibits of interest to students of the classic period of United States postage, and the awarding of the Society's annual awards, including the Society's highest honor - the Distinguished Philatelist Award. Since its inauguration in 1988, forty-four people have been invited to sign this award in recognition for "Exceptionally meritorious service to U. S. philately through published research, award-winning collections, active participation in the organization and promotion of philatelic exhibitions, and sustained administrative service to the national or international organizations which furthered United States philately." Leonard H. Hartmann & Van Koppersmith were the 2007 recipients of the Distinguished Philatelist Award. Also Announcing the USPCS NOJEX DinnerThe USPCS dinner will be held at NOJEX on Friday at 7:00pm May 23rd. It will be held at Iberia Peninsula Restaurant, 63-69 Ferry Street in Newark. Transportation by bus and local member's cars will be provided both ways. The Portuguese menu features many roasted meat courses that are served right of the cooking skewers, called Rodizio. They include many styles of beef, pork, chicken and sausages. A green salad will be served along with Seafood Paella, which is shellfish and saffron rice dish, native to the Iberian peninsula. The price includes house wines, bottled beer (domestic and imported), sangria, soft drinks, coffee and tea. As well, cheesecake, a fruit basket, flan and house desserts are in the price.
