Stamp & Cover Repository & Analysis Program

  • Reference Collection Inventory
  • Published Monographs
  • The Stamp & Cover Repository & Analysis Program (SCRAP) is a unique USPCS, Inc. effort to get philatelic fakes, frauds, & forgeries off the market while retaining them for study & reference. Currently, the SCRAP Reference Collection consists of over 5,600 stamps, covers, & documents that have been donated over the years by USPCS members. Stamp & cover collectors no longer have to worry about these bogus philatelic items finding their way into unsuspecting collector holdings.

As a member of the Society, you will have access to the SCRAP archive which is housed in the Members' Domain for in-depth studies and research projects. Moreover, high resolution digital scans may be provided of any cover, stamp and/or document you are interested in viewing.

So please join by filling out a Membership Application today and gain access to this most unique archive.

For donations of material, please contact Dr. Charles J. Di Como

    SCRAP Administrator
    102 Old Pawling Rd
    Pawling, NY 12564-2121
    (845) 855-0817 (Fax)

For digital scans of any items in the archive (and on a limited basis a loan of certain items) for research purposes, please contact Charles C. Temple

John Fox Fake Covers Sub-Collection - consisting of 273 fake covers believed to be the work of the well-known U.S. & CSA postal history faker & former New York philatelic dealer, the late John A. Fox.

Lanman & Kemp Archive Collection - consisting of 4,919 in-bound covers originating from 55 different countries covering the period 1853-1880. All are sans franking, but the shear volume & time period covered provides a wondrous opportunity for the study of markings of incoming foreign mail.

SCRAP Stamp Collection - made up of approximately 359 stamps mainly from the United States or related areas.

SCRAP Document Collection - made up of one whisky receipt signed by William H. Harrision & four revenue entry documents, each franked with a USIR revenue stamp.

    Published Monographs Teaser

The SCRAP Published Monographs give the researcher a more indepth look at why an item(s) has been deemed a philatelic fake, fraud, or forgery by the Analysts and Reviewers. Each Chronicle-published monograph gives a full description with digital image(s), the appararent usage, the analysis, and the conclusion(s) drawn.

By joining the Society today you will have access to additional monographs.

Tax Deductible Donations - The USPCS earnestly solicits donations of philatelic fakes, frauds, and forgeries of U.S. and related area stamps and covers. Such donations may be tax deductible, as the USPCS is an IRS recognized nonprofit educational incorporated society [510(c)(3)]. (You should consult your tax advisor for applicability to your own tax situation.) Please forward such donations to the SCRAP Administrator at the address listed in Contact Information above. You will promptly receive a receipt from the USPCS that officially acknowledges and describes your donation. This receipt will provide the documentation to substantiate your donation for tax purposes.
