The Arizona Federation of Stamp Clubs hosted the 63rd ARIPEX stamp show at the Mesa Convention Center in Mesa, AZ on February 18-20, 2022.
Member Philatelic Exhibits
The F. Burton “Bud” Seller Memorial Grand award went to Nicholas Lombardi, for his exhibit, The 1903 Two Cent Washington Shield Issue. This exhibit also received Multi-Frame Large Gold and United States Stamp Society Statue of Freedom awards.
The Reserve Grand was awarded to Hal Vogel for his exhibit, American Heroic Age Polar Expeditions. This exhibit also received a Multi-Frame Large Gold award and Postal History Society medal. The Single Frame Reserve Grand was also awarded to him for his exhibit, Great Britain’s Greatest Irish Polar Expeditioner which also received a Single Frame Large Gold.
Dr. Daniel M. Knowles received the Single Frame Grand Award for his US Demonitization and Transition to the 1861 Issue exhibit. This exhibit also received Single Frame Large Gold and APS American Philatelic Congress Book awards.
Sjon Brjtfus took home the Youth Grand for his Railroad Perfins used on Cover exhibit. This exhibit also received Single Frame Large Silver, AAPE Youth Grand and Jean Benninghof Encouragement awards.
Anthony Wawrukiewicz received a Multi-Frame Large Gold for his Operation and Innovation in the US Domestic Dead Letter Office, 1860-1980 exhibit.
Alfredo Frohlich received a Multi-Frame Large Gold for his Columbia – First Perforated Issue 1883 exhibit. His Classic Columbia 1862-1864 the 5th and 6th Issue exhibit received Multi-Frame Large Gold and Germany Philatelic Society “GPS Special Prize” awards.
Gregg A. Hopkins, Sr. received Multi-Frame Large Gold and APS for his Philatelic Truck, Souvenir Sheet and Cachet exhibit. His The $2 Inverted Jenny exhibit also received Multi-Frame Large Gold and APS Post 1980 Medals of Excellence awards. His The Production of the US Airmail Issue of 1928 – The Beacon exhibit won a Single Frame Large Gold award.
Steve Zwillinger was awarded a Multi-Frame Large Gold for his Indian Telegraph Stamps of Edward VII exhibit. This exhibit also received the Award of Excellence and Epilogue Award from the AAPE.
Edward Caj Brejtfus received a Multi-Frame Large Vermeil for his The First Modern Postage Stamp exhibit.
Myron Palay was awarded a Multi-Frame Large Vermeil for his Japan’s Wars 1894-1911 exhibit.
Norman E. Cohen received a Multi-Frame Large Vermeil for his The Use of the 1930-31 US Postage Due Issues to 1964 exhibit.
Dr. Daniel C. Warren was awarded a Multi-Frame Large Silver for his Montenegro Postal Stationery 1888-1914 exhibit.
David Steidley received Single Frame Large Gold awards for his Mail Handling by American Express in Paris 189-1939 and Airmail between the U.S. & Iraq 1940-41 exhibits.
