The CAPEX 22 International One Frame Stamp Championship Exhibition was held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) in the heart of Toronto’s downtown entertainment district on June 9-12, 2022.
Chip Gliedman won the Grand Prix – Americas, Large Gold and the Longley Auctions Best in Class Award for his exhibit, Mail Routes of Rupert’s Land, British North America.
For his exhibit, The ‘Grill’ Essays of the United States 1865-1868, Jan Hofmeyr, received a Large Gold and FENCORI – Costa Rica Special Prize.
Richard Drews was awarded a Gold and Belgium Special Prize for his exhibit, Trans-Oceanic Uses of the 30 Cent U.S. Issues of 1861-1868.
Robert Forster was awarded a Gold and Brazil Special Prize for his Bisects and Quadrisect of Colonial Nova Scotia exhibit. He also received a Gold and Jean and Robert Benninghoff Special Prize for his Vancouver Island’s Two Colonial Stamps exhibit.
New Orleans in the Confederate Postal System an exhibit by Doug Weisz received a Gold and Israeli Philatelic Foundation Special Prize.
Cheryl Ganz was awarded a Gold for her Zeppelin LZ-129 Hindenburg Onboard Postmarks exhibit along with a Gold for her British Airship R100 exhibit, a Gold for her U.S. Zeppelin and Airship Mail Flights exhibit and a Large Vermeil and Best in Class – Toronto Post Card Club awards for her Quest by Airship: The Wellman/Vaniman exhibit.
For his exhibit, The 30 Cent Nesbitt Envelopes of 1865 – Unrecognized Rarity, Richard Taschenberg received a Gold and Best in Class – United Postal Stationery Society awards.
Alfredo Frolich’s exhibit, Replating Colombia’s 1861 Peso Stamp was awarded a Gold and Special Prize – Eire Philatelic Association.
Robert Hohertz displayed his exhibit, The American Phototype Two-Cent Instructive Clause – 1867-1872 and it received a Gold and Special Prize – Eire Philatelic Association. His Why There was a 1-and 1/2c Prexie, and its Later Solo Uses exhibit was awarded a Large Vermeil.
Our very own club President, David D’Alessandris, exhibited Mail Carried by the Cunard Line between Halifax and the United States and he received a Gold.
Mark Schwartz received Gold awards for all three of his exhibits, Boston’s Use of the 1847 Issue, The Postal Markings of Newbury, Newpburyport, Mass. During the Stampless Period 1755-1855 and The “Special Arrangement” Between Liverpool and the U.S.: 1843-1848.
Displaying her exhibit, Transatlantic Mail: U.S. – GB First Treaty Rates 1849-1867, Carol Bommarito received a Gold.
A Gold and Special Prize – Reinaldo Macedo, RDP was awarded to Ian Gibson-Smith for his Hong Kong ‘China’ Overprinted Registered Envelopes exhibit.
Vernon Morris’ exhibit, World’s Third Producer of Stamps: Philadelphia Local Posts, 1842 to 1861 was awarded a Gold.
Spanish Colonial and Mexican Mail in the United States, exhibited by Yamil Kouri received a Large Vermeil.
Randy Nafziger received a Vermeil for his A Soldier’s Diary – The World War I North Russian Expedition.
Peter LaPlaca was awarded a Vermeil for his George Washington and UFOs exhibit and a Silver for his George Washington, Salesman exhibit.
An Introduction to Italian Lake Mail, exhibited by William DiPaolo received a Large Silver.
Douglas N. (& Nancy B. Clark) exhibited A Trip in the Mail Car and they were awarded a Large Silver.
