RESEARCH REQUEST:
The Railway Mail Service (RMS) Library is seeking high resolution scans of Zevely advertisements for postmarking devices and other post office equipment. Scans should be at least 300 dots per inch or higher, in color, even if the document is black and white. These scans are to be retained for library reference and as documentation of Zevely hand-stamps in the collection.
A sample low-resolution scan is included with is not clear enough to depict all details. Also included are sample views of marking devices in the RMSL collection. It is unclear why rating stamps were being sold during the 1850s when adhesive postage stamps were available after 1847. Thoughts on this point would also be appreciated.
