As usual, Society members made a good showing with one of our own (Tim O’Conor for “Postal Conventions used in the Thirteen Original Colonies, and Florida 1639-1782” (also Multi-frame Large Gold and the APS Research Award) winning the first USPCS Medal of the year.
Alfredo Frohlich won the Multi-frame Grand for “Classic Colombia – the 5th and the 6th Issues” (also Multi-frame Large Gold).
Multi-frame Large Gold was also won by Vernon R. Morris, Jr. for “Evolution and Impact of Blood’s Local Post: 1842 to 1862” (also the APS Pre-1900 Medal of Excellence).
Daniel Telep won Multi-frame Large Vermeil for “The Re-Federalization of Confederate Post Offices and Express Companies: 1862-1869”.
Richard Lomax won Single-frame Gold for “Stait’s Despatch Post Influenced the U.S. Postal System”.
On the literature front, Classics Society members also did well.
Thomas Lera’s “Postal History of Indian Key, Florida” which appeared in the Collectors Club Philatelist won Literature Large Gold.
Five other pieces from the Classics Society won Literature Gold.
